PABCO provides our employees with the following benefits.
Coverage for health benefits begins the first of the month following 60 days of employment.
We offer a Preferred Provider Organization plan (PPO) and a High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) through Blue Shield. Some states also have the option of enrolling into Kaiser Permanente (HMO or HDHP) or Health Plan of Nevada (HMO). Employee contributions for medical, dental and vision insurance are withheld on a pre-tax basis.
We offer two levels of PPO dental plans through Blue Shield. The PPO Buy-Up plan includes a higher benefit level, lower deductible, and orthodontia coverage.
Employees may also elect to enroll in this voluntary vision plan offered by VSP. Benefits include frames, lenses and an exam on an annual basis.
Employees can elect to have money withheld from their paycheck on a pre-tax basis to pay for items that the medical, dental and vision insurance coverage does not cover as well as certain over-the-counter items. This type of account is not allowed in conjunction with a Health Savings Account.

Employees can elect to have up to $5,000 per year withheld on a pre-tax basis to pay for dependent care. This includes child and elder parent care.
Employees who are enrolled in the HDHP are encouraged to open a Health Savings Account as a way to save money on a tax deferred basis to use for qualified medical expenses. Employees can invest monies within the HSA (depending on the account balance). The HSA is portable, meaning there is no “use it or lose it” clause and employees can take the money with them if they leave the company.
We offer 10 paid holidays each year as well as paid vacation and, for most positions, paid sick time.
Newly hired employees are automatically enrolled in the 401(k) after 30 days of employment unless they elect to opt out of the plan. In addition to the automatic enrollment, on April 1st of each year, the employees’ deferral rate will be automatically increased by 1% until 10% is reached. Employees can rollover funds from previous 401k plans as early as the month in which they are hired.
Each year the company contributes to each eligible employee’s profit sharing account. Employees who work for 12 consecutive months and have a minimum of 1,000 work hours are eligible to participate during the following plan year. Participants are 100% vested after 3 years of service.
The company provides life insurance with a matching accidental death and dismemberment insurance for all employees. In addition, the company also provides coverage for spouses and dependents.
Short Term Disability Insurance helps protect an employee’s income when they are absent from work due to any injury or illness. California employees are covered by the state disability insurance plan. Non-California employees are provided basic coverage at no cost and may purchase higher level benefits for a small contribution.
Long Term Disability (LTD) Insurance is provided to employees in certain positions. LTD protects an employee’s income when they are unable to work due to a long-term injury or illness.
The company also has voluntary life and accidental death and dismemberment plans available for purchase.
Employees have the opportunity to participate in annual health screenings to earn a credit toward their health care premiums the following year.
Employees and their families can enroll with 24 Hour Fitness center at corporate pricing.
The Life Assistance Program offered by Cigna is the company provided employee assistance program. This program is designed to help employees and their family members address life's daily challenge such as family issues, education, aging, legal issues, addiction and recovery and emotional health.
In support of employee development, as well as increased involvement and contribution toward Company objectives, PABCO provides an Educational Assistance Program designed to provide support to employees pursuing their degree.
The Pacific Coast Building Products Scholarship Fund was established to benefit the children and grandchildren of current and retired employees of Pacific Coast Building Products. Applicants must be a child or grandchild of a current employee or retired employee of Pacific Coast Building Products and be attending or accepted at accredited two or four-year colleges, or vocational schools approved by the selection committee. The award monies can be used for all educational expenses and related items, including: tuition & fees, computers, calculators, books & supplies.
Employees are eligible for discounts on many products and services provided through PABCO and other Pacific Coast Building Products subsidiaries.
The company supports our employees in their efforts to contribute to the community. Not only to we support established charities such as Relay for Life and Habitat for Humanity, we have established our own charity internally called Adopt-A-Family. Adopt-A-Family gives our employees the opportunity work directly with families in the community to provide them with gifts and other items they would not otherwise have during the holidays.
